Love the Basting function on these 776 machines! Kind of difficult to configure if you don’t have the manual. 3rd stitch from the left on pattern selector/ center needle position and #5 on stitch width. Can baste up to 1/2 inch seams. This is commonly found on higher end foreign machines of the era so very interesting to see on a singer!😊

Thank you for sharing your video! I have just received this model machine and it needs servicing and cleaning. I am going to attempt to clean it, so I hope I can do it without causing any damage. I am wondering if that cam stitch is for smocking? It looks like the stitches that some machines have for fine smocking details.

Same here, mine was given to me and I can't seem to get it to sew correctly. I have the book and I have done everything it shows but the thread won't stay in the fabric. Help please.

we never know because ambidextrous is to be equal with both hands. The left hand is so stiff that I can't believe it

I have one of these. Did you adjust the needlebar on yours to take a 15x1? I did, and it seems to work fine. I still have to clean the old hard grease out of the gearbox.
